  • International Sociological Association (ISA) WG06 IE Mentorship Seminars

    These seminars are organised by Janet Rankin, alongside Suzanne Vaughan and Lauren Eastwood for the UK and Americas group, and Nerida Spina for the EU Asia-Pacific group. They are a generous space for you to join, listen to IE discussions and ask questions. You can also present your work or any puzzle you might be dealing with when working with IE.

  • CFPs now closed!

    IE Conference Call for Papers 2026

    There are a number of calls for papers open at the moment for 2026 conferences which have IE streams or sessions:

    Canadian Sociological Association (2-4 June online and 10-13th June in-person Halifax, Nova Scotia) - CFP closes 26th January

    In late 2025, a new Institutional Ethnography research cluster was established at the Canadian Sociological Association (CSA) (https://www.csa-scs.ca/research-clusters).

    European Sociological Association (ESA) Conference (25-28 August 2026) - CFP closing 30th January 2026

    The Call for Papers for the 17th ESA Conference in Warsaw (25–28 August 2026) is now open, closing 30th January 2026, with RS18: Institutional Ethnography focusing on IE (co-organised Morena Tartari, Órla Meadhbh Murray, Sarah Murru). 

    Society for the Study of Social Problems (SSSP) (conference 6-9th August New York) - CFP closes 31st January 2026

    SSSP Conference 6-9 August, 2026 (New York, USA) with Institutional Ethnography sessions and an IE student paper award. Deadline to submit abstracts 31st January 2026 (11:59 PM Eastern Time). The SSSP also has a new LinkedIN page for IE.
